A very attractive early Omega wristwatch from the 1940s, powered by the reliable calibre 17.8 manual wind movement. This example is running very well and keeping good time, making it a straightforward and enjoyable watch to wear.

The watch features a warm gold-toned dial with an even and pleasing patina, complemented by raised Arabic numerals and a relatively uncommon set of “Rex” style hands. The blued steel sweep seconds hand adds a subtle point of contrast and reflects the period, when centre seconds were still a relatively recent development for Omega.

The dial is signed Omega and remains original, showing honest ageing consistent with its age. The overall appearance is balanced and very easy on the eye.

The 14k gold-filled case is in excellent condition, with only light surface wear commensurate with age. The case proportions are typical of the period, measuring 29mm excluding the crown. While modest by modern standards, it sits very well on the wrist and is particularly suited to those who prefer a smaller watch.

The crown is Omega signed but is not believed to be original. The crystal is in good condition.

Fitted with a new tan leather strap.

A neat and very wearable early Omega, with the added appeal of its unusual hands and well-aged dial.

A smaller watch by modern standards, but one that wears comfortably and suits both ladies and those who prefer a more traditional size.
