This is an excellent Omega 1/100,000th hour timer from the 1960s.

It takes 3.6 seconds for the hand to sweep one complete rotation of the dial. 10 sweeps takes 36 seconds and is equal to 1/1000th of an hour. The dial consists of 100 indexes so each index represents 1/100,000th of an hour. So this industrial timer would have been used to measure processes in 100,000ths of an hour rather than seconds or minutes and seconds.

The small secondary dial can record cumulatively up to 0.04 of an hour.

Depress the crown to commence timing. Depress it again to stop timing. Depress a third time to reset to zero.

The condition is almost new.

The dial and everything about the dial is in almost perfect condition. The white hasn't discoulered and the black print remains fully saturated. Fabulous blue steel hands*. Very slight scratches on the plexiglass. It is signed Omega and Prestons Ltd Blackpool.

The case only has  micro scratches. There is a Prestons Timer Division sticker on the case back. They were UK retailers that sold more Omega timers than any other outlet. Beautiful crown with "as new" sharp detailing. The crown works as it should. Opening the back takes you to a dust cover. Removing this reveals the beautifully engineered Omega calibre 5135. It's fully marked with Omega, Swiss, 7 jewels, the Omega logo, calibre number and serial number. Spotless inside and runs as it should.

Note that the case back is a very rare screw fit. Nearly all similar Omega timers of this era were snap fit. Also, the dust cover is a loose fit rather than the usual snap fit.

The timer comes with its original Omega tag.

* Whilst the video was taken in daylight the sweep hand looks very blue. Its colour is better represented in all the other pictures.

A very rare high speed timer with an equally rare screw back..
