Introduced in 1952 the Omega Constellation filled a gap in the market that proved to be very significant. Until then Omega had produced a relatively small number of chronometers and whilst they were a success the Constellation was to promote Omega to being the number one chronometer producer in the world. It combined the legendary engineering as witnessed by the earlier Seamaster with superb time-keeping, where every watch was independently tested for accuracy for 360 hours in five positions and at 5 temperatures.
This example comes in a polished stainless steel case. It's in good condition with only moderate signs of wear. The solid gold medallion on the case back stands proudly on the case and is lightly worn. The Observatory and 8 stars are clearly visible. There are no dents or scratches and no signs of abuse. Signed Omega inside the case-back.
The dial has a vertical brushed silver finish and is in very good condition. There is a slight golden hue that comes from the gold coloured metal tension ring at the edge of the acrylic (glass). The gold hour batons are inset with black onyx. Matching hands with a sweep seconds hand. The Omega logo, sign and gold star are applied. It is signed Automatic, Chronometer, Constellation and Swiss Made. The crystal has minor scratches and the crown is signed Omega.
Inside is the Omega-manufactured chronometer movement calibre 551.
It comes with used non-Omega black leather strap.
