The Seamaster was introduced in 1948 as a "watch for the active man"! It grew out of the Omega  legacy for developing military watches during WW2 and the desire to offer a robust watch for the post-war years.

This 1958 model is of the classic Seamaster design with its beefy lugs and solid look. The gorgious black dial is original and has aged well over the years. It has the hugely popular dart hour batons with matching gold Dauphine hands and a sweep seconds hand. The applied Omega logo is also gold whilst Omega, Automatic, Seamaster, Calendar and Swiss Made are printed in gold. The quick-set date is at 3. To set this, after the date has changed wind the watch back to 9 and then forward past 12 and the date will advance one day. Repeat as necessary. The acrylic is a genuine Omega replacement with the Omega logo etched in the centre. Original Seamaster crown.

The case is gold-capped with the case-back being stainless steel. It is in very good condition considering its age with only minor dinks and scratches. There is some slight rub-through of the gold on both the bottom lugs. The case-back is marked Seamaster and waterproof (it isn't so keep well away from water!). On the inside it's fully marked Omega.

Inside is the Omega 503 calibre. Superbly engineered and in great condition. It's an automatic so generates its energy from the movement of the arm when it's worn. If necessary this can be supplemented with the occasional wind.

The watch is fitted with a used black non-Omega strap.
