This is one of the early classic Seamasters from 1951. Introduced in 1948, it was marketed as the watch for the active man and followed the success that Omega had from making robust watches for the military during WW11.
The rose gold-plate case is in good condition with tiny scratches and dinks commensurate with its age. The gold-plating is 80 microns thick and shows no signs of rub through. Replacement genuine Seamaster crown. Classic wide bezel and beefy lugs. The case-back is stainless steel and is fully marked Omega on the inside.
The two-tone dial had aged wonderfully over the years and displays an enviable patina. With only a few tiny dots it's in remarkably good condition. Riveted Arabic numberals at 3, 6, 9 and 12 with arrow-head gold hour batons elwhere. Gold Dauphine hands with black inserts. Gold sweep seconds hand. Luminous squares at 3, 6, 9 and 12 (double) which have long since lost their capacity to glow. Applied Omega logo in gold. Omega, Automatic, Seamaster and Swiss Made printed in black.
Inside is the Omega "bumper" calibre 351 which runs well and keps good time.
The watch comes with a used non-Omega leather strap.
