By the early 1950s, Omega’s pocket watch production had declined as wristwatches gained dominance. Nevertheless, Omega continued to produce finely made pocket watches in small numbers, often destined for presentation or ceremonial use. This 1951 example reflects that transitional period: a beautifully finished watch representing the last decades of traditional pocket watch manufacture, when Omega offered them more as symbols of prestige and craftsmanship than as everyday timekeepers.

The dial is striking with its condition and colour. Beautiful two-tone gold with hardly any fading or marks. Saturated black Arabic numerals, railroad track minute outer. Delightful gold hands. Sunken small seconds sub-dial at 6 with a circular Guilloche finish. Signed with the Omega logo and script.

The metal case is in good condition with just a few small dings. The inside of the case-back is marked Omega and underneath is a metal dust cover. The stem (crown) is original.

The pocket watch is powered by the Omega calibre 161 — one of the company’s last great pocket watch movements, in production from the 1930s into the 1960s.  A reliable 17-jewel hand-wound movement descended from the famous 38.5 series, representing craftsmanship and continuity at a time when pocket watches were giving way to the wristwatch.
