Beautifully preserved Omega automatic dress watch manufactured during the closing years of WW2, probably circa 1945. Powered by the early Omega calibre 28.10 RASC bumper automatic movement and housed in a high-quality American-made Wadsworth 14k gold-filled case.
 
The condition of this watch is quite exceptional for its age. The case shows virtually no signs of wear with no noticeable dings, dents or scratches. The gold-filled finish remains strong throughout, and the watch appears to have seen very little use during its lifetime.
 
The cream technical dial is particularly attractive and unusually well preserved. Outer minute track is divided into fifth-second increments. Applied gold Arabic numerals at 12 and 6, with matching applied gold batons. Original gold leaf-style hands with a matching sweep seconds hand. Signed Omega Automatic beneath the applied Omega logo. The dial retains a clean, crisp appearance rarely encountered on watches from this period.
 
Inside is the Omega calibre 28.10 RASC bumper automatic movement — one of Omega’s early self-winding calibres where the rotor “bumps” between spring buffers rather than rotating continuously through 360 degrees. These movements have tremendous charm and mechanical character and represent an important stage in the evolution of the automatic wristwatch.
 
The American-made Wadsworth case is also noteworthy. Wadsworth supplied high-quality cases to Omega for the North American market and their better cases are known for robust construction, excellent finishing and elegant proportions. At just over 32mm excluding the crown, this watch is normal for the era and, thanks to the slim bezel design, wears noticeably larger on the wrist than the measurements might suggest.
