Elegant mid-1930s Omega pocket watch housed in a high-quality English-made Dennison “Moon” case. The case remains in exceptionally well-preserved condition with no dings, dents or noticeable scratches and, importantly for a gold-plated watch of this age, there is no rub-through to the plate. The sharply defined knurling to the crown strongly suggests very light use over its lifetime.
The white porcelain dial is particularly impressive. Completely free from hairline cracks or chips — something increasingly difficult to find on enamel dials approaching 90 years old. The apparent shading visible in some photographs is simply reflection from the sky during outdoor photography. Crisp black Roman numerals with outer chemin-de-fer minute track. Original blued steel Poire hands remain in beautiful condition with deep, even colour.
Inside is a high-quality 15 jewel Omega Swiss movement, which is clean, bright and correctly signed Omega. Serial dates the watch to 1935.
The English-made Dennison “Moon” case is worth noting in its own right. Dennison Watch Case Co. of Birmingham supplied some of the finest cases used by Swiss manufacturers for the British market. Their “Moon” cases were known for solid construction, good proportions and long-term durability. This example remains remarkably crisp throughout.
A very honest and unusually well-preserved pre-war Omega pocket watch combining excellent originality with outstanding cosmetic condition.
Runs and keeps time.
