The quartz watch movement transformed the industry however, before this was to happen, American watch manufacturer Bulova introduced technology that could harness accurately the constant vibrations of a tuning fork! Their technology was licensed to Omega and here we have an excellent and rare example of their F300Hz. It's battery driven and, when it's running, the tuning forks (2) can be heard humming - hence the nick-name.
What is particularly nice about this example is the very distinctive and rare dial with its vertical coils! So apt for an early electronic watch. There's hardly a mark on it. The original dots of lume are all in place (there were none at 3, 6, 9 ,12) at the end of the black topped applied batons. Matching gold coloured baton hands with contrasting black ends infilled with lume. Stepless sweeping second hand. Day Date at 3, adjustment of which is through the crown. Set the watch at 6 and pull the crown out one notch. Rotate the crown to change the day. Set the time at any other hour and the same procedure will change the date. Time is adjusted by pulling the crown out 2 notches. The applied Omega logo is set within a red painted curved trapezoid. Painted white is Omega, Electronic, F300Hz, Chronometer with Swiss Made in black. The acrylic is in good condition. Crown looks to be a non-Omega replacement.
Gold plated case (20 microns thick) and stainless steel back both in very good condition. Very tiny dints and scratches suggest this is a well cared for watch. Very slight rubbing to the gold plate on the integrated lug edges. Scratches to the bevel edge of the case-back.
Inside is the Omega calibre 1260 movement. It runs well and is extremely accurate as you would expect from a chronometer. Comes complete with a non-omega brown leather strap and gold buckle buckle.
The watch works as it should.
Superb example of an evolving technology.
P.s. It will not be waterproof tested so please avoid water.
