1968 pocket watch from Smiths in the UK. Designed and built in the UK by Smiths Industries Limited, Clock & Watch division. It comes complete with the original Smiths box and guarantee dated 24th May 1968 for a buyer living in Guernsey.
This pocket watch is in lovely condition. It's clearly been well cared for and has seen relatively little use over the years. Everything is original. The dial is unmarked. The hands retain all their original luminous material. The Arabic numberals are still complete and sharply defined and have their original luminous material. Small seconds sunken sub-dial at 6. The beauty is in its simplicity!
The case is in very good condition with no significant dents or scratches. It has micro scratches from general use and there's a little wear (rub through) to the surface finish in a number of areas. The crown and winding stem are still sharply defined. To set the time depress the crown and turn. Do not pull it. See the instructions in the guarantee slip.
Inside, the movement is marked "Made in Great Britain" and displays the reference 616EM. It keeps good time averaging about 1 minute slow per day.
Smiths heritage is both complex and varied. It has so much history and much of the story can be found on the internet. Some links are below.
