The Seamaster was introduced in 1948 as the watch for the active man. It was water-resistant, anti-magnetic, shock resistant all supported by a very robust case with beefy lugs and a wide bezel. It was a recipe for success which evolved as fashion changed and what is for sale here is a result of that change that had happened by the 1960s. Most significantly are the slender lugs.
This particular watch has these slender lugs however they are attractively faceted. In addition, it has an oversized bezel which actually oversteps the case and allows for a slightly larger dial. This, in turn, gives it relatively more presence when on the wrist. The dial is virtually unmarked. Gold coloured hands with a matching sweep seconds hand. Applied hour batons interspersed with Arabic numbers at 3, 6, 9 and 12. All the batons have their original balls of lume at their top. Applied Omega logo. Signed Omega, Automatic, Seamaster and Swiss Made. Genuine Omega acrylic with the Omega sign etched in the centre. Genuine Omega crown.
The case and case-back are solid 9k gold. In great condition with just one larger scratch (very superficial) on the case-back that could easily be polished out. Super impression of the sea monster in the centre of the case-back including "Seamaster" and the Omega logo. Still all well defined with few signs of general wear.
Inside is the Omega manufactured calibre 552. A highly respected movement that captures the movement of the wearer's wrist which, in turn, automatically winds the watch up.
The watch is fitted with a brand new high-quality non-Omega leather strap.
