Omega had great success during WW2 with their military watches and the military look was an influence after the war right up until 1948 when they introduced the first Seamaster. This is a fine example of the post-war pre-Seamaster Omega watches.
The dial has acquired an even patina over the past 70 years and remains in remarkably good condition. Arabic hour index numbers with excellent colour saturation. Railroad track minute index. Signed Omega and Swiss Made. Skeletal blued steel hour and minute hands. Small seconds within a recessed sub-dial at 6. Circular Guilloche finish. A few scratches on the acrylic. Unsigned crown, probably original.
At the time of manufacture, there were restrictions on the export of precious metals. For the UK market, Omega had to export the movement to the UK where they would be fitted in a British made case. This has one of the best - Dennison. Fully hallmarked by the Birmingham assay office for 9k gold in 1946/7. It has only slight signs of wear.
Inside is the legendary Omega 30t2 calibre. A quick Google search will confirm that this movement and its close derivatives are legendary and credited as being pivotal to Omega's success for over 25 years. This was fully serviced in January 2020.
Comes with a new brown leather strap and Omega signed buckle.
