Stunning speckled copper coloured dial on this 1943 Omega automatic.
The Omega automatic was as much as a brand name as it was a description of what it did. This is a bumper automatic so that when you move your wrist there's a rotor inside the watch that bumps back and forth on springs and winds up the watch.
The dial is from a period dominated by military design and it shows with its lumed hour numbers, dots and lumed hands (the lume has long since disappeared). Railroad track minute index. Small seconds sunken sub dial at 6. Signed Omega in black. Crystal in good condition. Period, non signed crown.
This is one of the rare Omega cases that uses a patented mechanism to close the back. Quite simply the case-back is placed on the case. A ring of gold coloured steel is then dropped over which clips into the case, securing the case-back in the process. The case has been polished and on the back boasts all the technology of the day - waterproof (no longer), non magnetic, shockproof, automatic and of course Omega, Swiss.
Inside the watch is powered by the Omega built calibre 30.10 RA PC. In great condition.
This is a medium sized watch (35mm diameter) relatively large for the period and is suitable for both ladies and gentlemen. Comes with a non-Omega brown leather strap and steel buckle.
