From the early 1940s here we have an example of the ultra-thin Omega watch in excellent original condition. Everything indicates that this is a well-cared-for, little-used and genuine watch. The highly defined brushed steel case, the dial with a few spots but still with saturated colours and the lovely R17.8 Omega calibre movement. It's all good!
The dial is Art Deco with painted hour Arabic numerals at 3, 6 and 12. Elswhere the hour indexes are painted with fancy extensions. Of particular note are the rare Rex hands. Small seconds sunken sub-dial at 6. Signed Omega and Fab. Suisse.
The stainless steel case with its stylized lug covers is virtually unmarked. The case-back is marked Omega. Inside is the R17.8 Omega calibre movement - desired by collectors.
The size of this watch is 21.5mm (width excluding the crown) and whilst small by today's stands was a full-size man's watch in the 1940s for Omega. It better suits a smaller wrist (which mine is) and you can see how well it sits in the first picture.
Comes with a good quality black leather strap that's little used. The buckle is a period Omega buckle.
The last picture shows the case as featured in the Omega "Bible" - Omega A Journey Through Time".
You will rarely find a better example than this.
