Beautiful little Omega Medicus manufactured around 1939.
The Medicus was the first commercial Omega to have a sweep seconds hand and was called the Medicus as it was attractive to the medical profession. They found the large seconds hand much easier to read than the traditional small seconds hand. Very useful when checking the pulse; especially in the darkened rooms of the 1940s.
At 28mm diameter this is very much on the small side by today's standards and I have attached a picture of it on my wrist (which is small). The technical dial is quite striking with its high contrast Arabic numbers and each minute index is further broken down into five sub-sections. The gold-coloured Plume hands are matched with the gold-coloured sweep seconda hand that has a little counter-balance on the end. Signed Omega, Fab. Suisse. Non-Omega signed crown.
The stainless steel case is in good condition with no major dents or scratches.
The Omega 23.4SC calibre is exceptionally clean, has recently been serviced and runs well.
Comes with a nearly new brown leather strap.
